The annual conference was founded (as the Television from the Nations and Regions conference) in 1993 by the International Media Centre, University of Salford with the aim of offering a non London-centric event for those working within the industry. Now rebranded the Nations and Regions Media Conference we aim to focus on policy, production and opportunity across the media and content creation industries throughout the UK. The conference has been key in influencing and supporting such important milestones as the introduction of out of London production quotas, the decentralisation of the BBC and the BBC’s move to Salford Quays.
Each year the conference addresses the key issues within the industry, selected by the steering committee and e-advisory board.
