Katy Boulton

Having worked previously as both programme maker and regulator Katy is now a freelance broadcasting consultant. She has a leading creative role in relation to the annual Nations and Regions Media Conference. Other projects include running events focussing on PSB outside London and on the future of local media alongside specialist research, analysis and evaluation work.

After gaining a first class degree in music Katy began her career leading creative education projects for Welsh National Opera.  She then spent eight years making documentaries and current affairs programmes for a range of broadcasters. Her credits include Dispatches (C4), Everyman (BBC2), and Real Life (ITV1).

Katy became ‘poacher turned gamekeeper’ as she moved from production into the policy arena of broadcast regulation in 2001. As the ITC’s and then Ofcom’s representative in the north of England she worked closely with the key industry players.  In 2005 Katy joined Ofcom’s PSB Content team taking a key role in high level policy projects and specialising in children’s programmes and nations and regions content.
